LOGI stands for “Low Glycaemic Index”. According to the glycaemic index principle, anyone who wants to lose weight must not only watch the nutritional value and calorific content of the food they eat but must also pay attention to how quickly foodstuffs can raise the glycaemic rate. For what reason? If the quantity of sugar in the blood increases too quickly, the insulin level also rises. The consequences of this are bouts of comfort eating. The remedies of the LOGI method are based on the diet of our Stone Age ancestors: at the centre are fruit and vegetables (at least three portions of vegetables and two of fruit). Also on the list are foods rich in protein such as fish, poultry and other types of meat, eggs, milk and dairy products, nuts and pulses. Wholemeal products, wholemeal rice, basmati rise and pasta (including durum wheat pasta) can be eaten in moderation. Those wishing to lose weight must give up bread and other oven products containing refined flour (type 0 or 00) and avoid potatoes, sweets and sugary drinks.
